I've often wondered why I love to sketch so much more than taking a piece to final. Trying to break it down I noticed that sketching is loose without the restraint of perfection. You can create anything and it's okay. You can create nothing and it's okay. I've never found it interesting to finish a piece of art. The fun of art is the creation so when a piece is finished that creation is over. So it always seemed that although finished art is nice to look at, it's a little sad because it's lost it's potential. However I can look at a sketch or doodle and be excited about what it could become.

I guess the downside of that is they never "become" anything without finality.

Man, I have been struggling for quite some time with the task of coloring a pencil sketch in Photoshop. Every time I tried it felt too clunky compared to just getting a marker or some other traditional form of color. But finally I think I figured it out!! Behold I have posted my Hold On to Your Nuts sketch in Photoshop color! It's a vaguely sexual cartoon that will hopefully make you at least smile.

Now that I've got that mental block out of the way maybe I can move on to one of my more serious sketches. Should be exciting.

I added some shots of a Games Workshop Warhammer 40k conversion I did. I got a first place ribbon with it at a local contest. I submitted it at the Chicago Games Day too but they hardly blinked at it. Oh well. I don't really do much miniature painting these days anyway.

Decided to scan and post a few doodle scraps I had laying around my desk. Hope you enjoy them.
